Let’s find out!

RTX 2070 Super Vs RX 5700 XT – Overview

If you take a look at the chart, it’s hard to gauge which one is better. Sure, AMD has a lower amount of transistors, but it has a higher GPU with a boost.

Still, Nvidia GeForce manages to offer 4K HD at 60 FPS while AMD balances at 1440 P at 60. It can indeed reach 4K as well. Of course, the reason behind Nvidia’s successful 4K support is patience.

AMD rushed to release their GPU that still works very well for the price and delivers impeccable performance. This led the AMD Radeon RX5700 XT to achieve recognition.

However, when the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super came into the market, it dominated the competition. Although it was pricey for a mid-range GPU, it created quite a buzz for its high-level performance.

RX 5700 XT Vs RTX 2070 Super: The 1440P League

If you compare these cards for 4K UHD gaming, Nvidia will undoubtedly score some points. However, these cards are not built for that robust definition. Therefore, it’s irrelevant for both of the cards to consider that.

Sure, if you want a little future-proof card to enjoy 4K gaming occasionally, Nvidia works excellent, but AMD is more stable with better and long-lasting performance.

In terms of 1440P, AMD will take the points for its high stability and well-versed performance. To put it in simple words, Nvidia’s RTX 2070 Super is built to run like a horse but doesn’t have enough stamina to back it up. RTX 2060 Super and GeForce RTX 2080 Super are similar to this card with a few differences.

Sooner or later, it will require equally robust hardware, cooling systems, and such to sustain. That’s where AMD manages to win the race with its 5700 XT.

DLSS Vs RIS: The Frontier

Another determining factor between the two GPUs is their remarkable AI technology with the GPUs. Nvidia has made Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) a ‘norm’ for the future of gaming. Meanwhile, AMD has refined its graphic capacity with Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS).

The major drawback for DLSS is the lack of games that are compatible with the mechanism. It is entirely indistinguishable for most of the games. Therefore, it is not a necessity to have for most of the titles. Sure, the future games might use DLSS more now that PS5 utilizes the technique. However, future gaming also means 4K to 8K UHD gaming, making Nvidia’s GPU a fallback.

If you talk about AMD’s RIS, it falls around similar aspects, but you can notice the tweaks. It enables you to have smoother and refined graphics without any toll on the hardware or performance.

That is a worthy addition. Given that GPU’s primary objective is to boost ‘graphics,’ AMD does a credible job. However, there’s a significant drawback. It doesn’t work with DX11.

Nvidia also has Ray Tracing to make the lighting and colors more realistic. Overall, it comes down to what you might prefer for graphics.

If you want to experience games with DLSS and Ray tracing before investing in a high-end GPU, Nvidia is the right choice. Otherwise, you can see AMD winning it again with the ‘stability.’

Which One Is The Best?

If you are a casual gamer who loves ray tracing and other DLSS advancements, you will admire Nvidia. Although it’s not power-packed for long-lasting performance, it can give you a taste of what the future holds for you. These graphics cards come with lighting effects as well.

Meanwhile, if you want a genuine mid-range graphic card with 1440P gaming, AMD would better suit you. Remember, Nvidia will give you 4K HD gameplay and games that won’t take too much toll on the system.

The Performance

RTX 2070 super:

To test the RTX 2070 super, we ran the MSI Kumboster app. We got a peak temperature of 79 degrees celsius and a max speed of 455 FPS on 86% GPU load. We were also drawing 98.9 TDP; while running games, we found that you can draw up to 102% TDP without requiring any overclock on the GPU.

We fired up a few games on this GPU card like PUBG, Apex, Wolfestine, and we found that on 4K, we were getting an average of 60 FPS, but while running the games at 1080p or Full HD, we were able to get upwards of a 160 FPS.

RX 5700 XT:

To check the Radeon RX 5700 XT benchmarks, we ran a few games like Call Of Duty Modern Warfare, Battlefield V, Forza Horizon 4, Metro Exodus, PUBG, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. While running these games at 1080p, we received an average of 130 FPS, and when we fired the games at 1440p, we received an average of 100 FPS.

When analyzed, this card came out to be 7% slower than the RTX 2070 super, but that doesn’t make any difference because they were producing the same results. The clock speed of this card is faster than the other cards.

Pricing And Availability

RTX 2070 super:

The RTX 2070 is comparatively expensive than the Radeon 5700 XT GPU card, and that’s acceptable because the card is being produced by the best and the most reliable company Nvidia.

The RTX 2070 super starts for $999 and is available on Amazon. The pricing also depends on the company that you are buying from whether you’re buying it from the official websites or from a third party.

Colling And Noise Cancellation

RTX 2070 super:

The RTX 2070 looks aesthetic, and the heat regulation of the card is quite good. While testing the RTX 2070, we noticed 79 degrees peak performance, thermally regulated by the heat sinks and the dual fans.

The fans run at about 50-53 decibels at base performance, but at peak performance, the fans would produce a sound of 58 decibels, which is manageable if you have a closed PC.

RX 5700 XT:

The cooling is concerned, the RX 5700 XT has 4, and 6-millimeter copper heat pipes kept cool by MSI’s new torch 3.0 fans systems, which actually have two distinct fan blades fans, which delivers better cooling, thereby regulating the temperature. It also comes with 2560 CUDA cores.

If we discuss the noise that this graphics card produces at ideal condition, the card will produce a sound of 38 decibels with a fan speed of 25%. But when the card was pushed to an extreme limit with a fan speed of 80%, the card’s sound was noticed to be 51 decibels.

Conclusion

This round seems heavily in favor of AMD, but Nvidia saw an opportunity of the future and tried to grasp the glory. You can’t blame them for an efficient card that will bring you HD gameplay efficiently. However, AMD managed to get a cheaper car with more stability. In the end, it comes down to your intention behind the GPU.
